I’m excited to tell you about a new event that we’ve had in development for a few months now. It’s the Virtual Job Summit, and it’s scheduled to start on August 1st. The Virtual Job Summit is an online Job Fair that’s open only to Bio Careers jobseekers. It will take place in a virtual environment where you navigate through a Lobby into Halls where Employers will have virtual Booths set up.
On the booths, you’ll find everything you would expect at an in-person booth (Brochures, White Papers) and much more (links to Job Listings, Webinars from that Employer). By Registering for the event, you’ll receive a virtual backpack. You can cruise the booths starting August 1st, and download materials from any of the booths into your backpack for reading at your leisure.
Each Employer Booth will have Office Hours posted. These hours will be during the two day, live event period on October 5th and 6th. You’ll be able to visit the booths you’re interested in during these Office Hours, and chat live via video chat with recruiters and scientists from the Employer. You can also pass them a copy of your resume in the virtual environment.
Employers will have follow on video interview sessions with those jobseekers they choose.
So, here’s an opportunity to research a group of Employers (we’ll be focused PIs from Academic Labs and Industry this first go round, although there will likely be other opportunities as well), and meet them without leaving your desk. There will be Employers from around the U.S., and around the world as well.
This is the first virtual job fair for the life sciences, and we intend to do it twice yearly into the future. We thought it would give everyone in our jobseeker community a real advantage, whether you’re looking for opportunities locally or in different geographies.

Please let me know what you think of the concept of the Virtual Job Summit in the comments section below. I’ll also be asking for your feedback once you’ve had a chance to look around in August.
